Celebrating Life. Here & Now.

“If we are ever to enjoy life, now is the time, not tomorrow or next year…Today should always be our most wonderful day.”

– Thomas Dreier.

In every culture, we do have special times set aside to celebrate life or a significant event. What we also know as Holidays ! Something that we get so excited about ! For they play a major role in our lives and are intertwined with our physical, mental and emotional states.

fTake a break !

Our life’s effort is motivated by the prospect of a reward.

On a “ feeling”  level – holidays are a reward. No work to worry about. Just doing things that one wouldn’t otherwise do. And which matter to us. Stuff we can really enjoy and perhaps experience once in a lifetime. Pausing to celebrate life is our reward for all the hard work we otherwise put into our lives. Much like walking towards the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Even taking time off from one’s normal routine to have fun and celebrate life fits into this “reward” category.

Rewards can be anything !

Rewards can have material value or emotional value. Most of us work for a material reward in the form of a monthly pay-check. A few others love what they do so much – that the monetary reward is unimportant and is secondary. The feeling of accomplishment they experience is what matters.

When we achieve something that matters to us  – we are emotionally rewarded. The reward can be something intangible – but it creates happiness. This action-reward feedback loop is an intrinsic part of human nature and is closely related to the joy of giving and receiving.

012_villa-fire-placeMake special times happen to celebrate life

Our holidays and associated decisions are often decided by others. But in order to feel truly rewarded and happy – it is important we do this for ourselves. That would enable us to reward ourselves while celebrating our life’s victories. Even the smallest professional achievement or a personal breakthrough can be a catalyst for your reward. And a holiday !

dsc_6964Celebrating the everyday

Any time we succeed in our life – a celebration is in order.  This is one of the ways we give ourselves approval . Whenever you find yourself  achieving something – it is time to reflect on your accomplishments, it’s time to stop and celebrate life. Doing so will funnel massive amounts of approval into your neurological feedback loop.

.Make it an ongoing process

Without a built-in system for receiving approval, one’s motivation begins to fade. If you see your personal progress as a reason to celebrate life – you are providing yourself with the fuel needed to stay motivated.

Personal growth is a never-ending  journey and it pays fabulous dividends. Approval is the single element that keeps the whole process running smoothly.  Make  your own times to celebrate life and your accomplishments. It’s a really powerful way to let yourself know how much you approve!

“The more you praise and celebrate your life,
the more there is in life to celebrate “ ~Oprah Winfrey

The Road to Inspiration

The word “inspiration” usually means something that mentally and emotionally stimulates you. And is the trigger to feeling, doing and achieving better things in life. Did you know that “inspiration” also means to ‘breathe in’ ? It is this meaning that gives a whole new meaning to the word – when you imagine yourself breathing in amazing thoughts, images and more – and filling yourself and your life with ideas. It is, however, important to ensure that you don’t forget to breathe. Out.

People search for inspiration in different ways. Some watch TED talks. Some follow the teachings of evolved souls. Technology geeks visit Hacker News every few hours, looking for new and fresh ideas. Musicians, writers, artists, and creative folk seek inspiration in people, places, things. Everyone is busy breathing in, and in, and in, and in.
Yet most of us don’t feel inspired enough. They’re looking for more, thinking something else out there will truly inspire them. More than what they’ve already found.

We think we know the reason why. It is because nothing is truly inspiring – unless you apply it to your work. Here – “Work” means your life’s output, whether creative, business, or personal.
It is your work and what you achieve with it. That, itself, is the inspiration.
You may hear something or see something that gives you a new idea. But it’s only when you stop and think of your work through this new perspective, and when you actually take that idea and turn it into reality and achieve something with it – that is what matters. That’s the real inspiration that we all are looking for!
2009_04_17_TOL_DDunning (141)_0)Inspiration is not merely the receiving of information. Inspiration is about applying what you’ve assimilated.
We’re truly grateful for the inspiration we experience every single day of our lives at the Tree of Life. Beginning with the inspiration that began as a dream for our Founder & CEO – Himmat Anand. Who gave up an extremely successful career in the travel and hospitality business – all for a dream. With no big names or funding to back him. As he worked on his inspiration on the ground – the Tree of Life began to take shape with funding coming in , the land being bought and the design of the resort taking shape under the creative and watchful eye of an architect-designer with soul. The results are there for us to see.
hansa.jpgWe’re also inspired by the story of Hansa – who is supported by the Balika Foundation set up by the Tree of Life Resorts. Baby Hansa lost her father some 15 years ago and her mother – Dappu, who now works at the resort, was pulling Hansa out of school for financial reasons when the foundation stepped in. Little Hansa made the most of the opportunity and grew to love biology and decided to become a nurse. Today she is on the verge of completing her nursing training and stepping out into the world.
binAnd how do we appreciate the hosts at the Tree of Life Binsar – who actually carried a specially abled yet adventurous guest in a wheelchair over rocky paths for her to get an unhindered view of the Himalayas at Zero Point ? Because they realise that mountains inspire everyone of us.
Just three stories that inspire. Because they are about what was made to happen. About reality that was created. Because someone didn’t just take in the inspiration. They actually manifested it in reality.
You have to pause the input and focus on your output. For every bit of inspiration, use it and amplify it by applying it to your work. Then you’ll finally feel the inspiration you’ve been looking for.

So don’t forget to inspire.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out.

And don’t forget to get inspired. At the Tree of Life. Book on +91 9602091000 / 2000 now !

Celebrating Friendship – Tree of Life Style

In our fast-paced world and one which sees rapidly changing lifestyles, attitudes and people – our relationships are also victim of the change. And sometimes it’s good. Mostly it isn’t.

Your relationships are by what a lot of people will evaluate you. Personally and professionally, too.  It’s psychological – because we are incredibly quick to judge people on the basis of appearances.

Since we live in times that are now incredibly me-centric, a lot of us are more about what we aren’t getting out of life. And that includes our relationships.  We believe there’s nothing really wrong with wanting something and having it. After all – we can give more of ourselves if we are content with what we have, right ? But the chances of making that happen increase exponentially when we make the effort and begin the giving process ourselves rather than waiting for the other person to do so.

So here’s what we think you could do to make your most important relationship – your happiest and most meaningful one. With a bit of help from us.

13531870_1127243767332162_228221248_nIt all comes down to being each other’s best friends. And you needn’t have only one best friend – there could be others too. A network or a support system of good friends who play different roles and come in to complete different parts of you and your life are a great way to stay sane. A spouse or a partner may be no less. Or even be first among equals.

One way to do it is to list out the qualities you’d want in an ideal friend. Nothing is too small or trivial to not be on that list – if it matters to you.

Next up – become that person ! Psychologist John Gottman has spent years researching what makes relationships flourish or fall apart. He found that lasting relationships come down to friendship. Couples who stay together make a conscious effort to connect, share interests, and meet their spouse’s emotional needs. So if you feel you or your partner need a break – get away to the Tree of Life to just be yourselves.  That’s a great setting to keep friendships in the pink of health.

015_Villa sit-out copyBe as active or as lazy as you wish. Spend quality time away from commitments and connectivity !  Score our Pool Villas at the Tree of Life, Jaipur for the ultimate in personal spaces. Our personalised cuisine on offer – will make fine-dining a memorable co-created experience between you and our MasterChef with his talented team.

We’re also a great place for groups of friends to meet and re-live the most significant times of their lives. With just 13 villas spread out over 7 acres of space in Jaipur – it’s a great place to host intimate reunions, celebrate anniversaries or any day that matters. And create a lifetime of memories.

13745146_1403274473032814_329483544_nIrrespective of how long it takes to achieve it – let’s not forget – Friendships are like gardens; they must be cultivated and invested in. The key is to be consistent and persistent—without expectations. It’s amazing what can happen when we assume the best, give our best and and stay meaningfully engaged with those who matter. After all – our world is a reflection of who we are and what we do. That’s physics and not some mumbo-jumbo !

So if you believe in that a solid friendship is the foundation of everything – head over to the Tree of Life. Celebrate Friendship with us this coming Friendship Day that falls on August 7th, 2016.

Why Monsoon Holidays Are Better !

The Monsoons are on their way. And this is really the best time to head out for the holiday you’ve been promising yourself.

After all – it feels great heading out when the rest of the world is done and dusted with their holidays and back to their grind.

It’s also the time when places empty out. So you don’t run the risk of bumping into the world when all you wanted was to get away from it in the first place !

Serene surroundingsAnd let’s face it – the monsoon that’s away from the urban chaos and muck is the season that one must savour. It’s a different world – much like the ones we would experience in our childhood. With clean, lush surroundings, puddles that one can jump in, breeze that cools the soul and skies that promise heaven.  And you can even recreate your favourite monsoon memory – floating paper boats or serenading your partner Bollywood style – the choice is yours !

The monsoon in India is believed to cleanse and regenerate the earth and its people. It is also key to India’s agriculture sector, enabling the growth of crops and driving stock markets ! And apart from bringing down temperatures, the monsoon also lowers room rates for travelers, turning India into a great off-season destination.

16The Tree of Life is transformed and beautifully so by the monsoon. Imagine yourself playing Lord of the Manor at the Tree of Life Grand Oak Manor, Binsar at our fabulous perch above the valley and yet right in the middle of the Binsat Wildlife Sanctuary, with heritage  rooms, personalised signature cuisine and our award winning service ! Get away from it all – while the resort is still open for the season.

Infinity Pool at nightAnd what can one say about our fabulous Tree of Life Jaipur ? With just 13 villas in  a lush, green valley in the middle of the Aravalis – create your own personal space to experience the joy of this monsoon. Where else can you swim in your own personal pool as it pours ? Or indulge in spa treatments right in your villa itself – either indoor or outdoor with the monsoon breeze for company. If you enjoy getting wet – then trek in the surrounding hills or go say hello to the elephants in the nearby village. And of course – our MasterChef in residence will whip up whatever your heart desires – all served by our staff that has won us accolades for their service – year after year.

Monsoon time is now holiday time. At the Tree of Life !
