Tree of Life Grand Oak Manor Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary
Tree of Life Grand Oak Manor is nestled a top the Kumaon hills (Uttarakhand), the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, 25 kilometres from Almora. It was in 1856 when the then British Commissioner of Kumaon, General Sir Henry Ramsay, cousin to Lord Dalhousie, the Viceroy of India, acquired this piece of land and built his private home. In 1931, the property was purchased by Rai Bahadur Harkishan Lal Sah Gangola and has stayed in the family since.
Today, we have reopened the doors of this exclusive hotel in Binsar for guests to offer them a taste of the old world charm and our hospitality.

The Rooms

Supporting the quaintness and beauty of the old world, the 11 hideaway rooms of 350 sq. ft. each, are lined along high ceilinged corridors. The teak wood furniture, bright bedspreads and rugs, and cozy fireside armchairs – are all reminiscent of genteel age.

General’s Study
Overlooking the lawns, this cozy room with it’s fire place is just so ideal to curl up with that book which has remained unfinished for so long.

Sunset Lounge
This large room on the first floor was the Ballroom in the Victorian heydays, where guests were entertained by General Sir Ramsay. Black and white photographs of those days adorn the walls along with antiques on the fire place. Indoor games are available upon request. A large verandah runs along the room with a view of the calm and serene mountains.

Guest Appreciation
This place is all about sunrise and sunsets and the perfect evenings. The food is amazing. The staff and Manager Saket will make you feel at home. If you want to enjoy nature in its raw form, it's the place for you. We enjoyed bonfire in the evenings. the hotel has WiFi so you can even work from here. Lastly have travelled to various places in Kumaon, this hotel was the best. Had booked for 2 days, but extended stay for 2 more as was getting such a good treatment by the staff.
Excellent place and awesome location..we saw sunrise and sunset from our resort..food is awesome and full of variety..(even though two of us had food poisoning)..staffs behaviour and courtesy is top class ..They organised some treks to nearby village and zero point which are beautiful...
Situated on the top of the hill. Awesome views of Himalayas and Valley. Food is freshly cooked. A bit costly which must be due to the scarcity of resorts in Binsar wildlife sanctuary.
