The Fort & More
Jodhpur is known for it’s fascinating Mehrangarh Fort, which hovers over the city on a hilltop. Built in 1459 in red stand stone, it is amongst the most imposing fort’s in Rajasthan spread over 5 kms ! Visit the Chokelao Bagh and the Mehrangarh Museum with it’s various interesting sections. This is followed by a visit to the Jaswant Thada which is at the base of the Fort. Built in the late 1800s, this beautiful structure built in white marble is still used as the cremation ground for the royal family of Mewar. And finally a visit to Ghanta Ghar or Clock Tower, which is set amongst the 7,000 odd small shops which make the old part of the city selling everything you can ask for. The chaos here can be amusing or annoying – just absorb this great atmosphere.

Paint Me Blue
There is no better way to explore this beautiful ‘blue city’, than on foot. Starting at the Mehrangarh Fort, you walk in the narrow lanes amongst blue homes and mansions with their carved and decorated facades, as the residents go about their daily chores. Make a stop at the step wells built ages go and stop for local snacks en-route. And finally, we visit a local home for a traditional meal.

Sand In Your Shoes
A ‘must do’ during your stay in Jodhpur ! Post lunch, we drive you out around 50 kms to Osian where the sand dunes and camels await you. Mount your ride, as the Ship of The Desert takes you through this stark terrain with the setting sun and the traditional dancers performing for you. A traditional local dinner is laid out for you under the stars, after which you drive back to the hotel.

Village Safari
“The real India lives in it’s villages” said Mahatma Gandhi and this morning we will do just that ! And during this drive, you will cover a loop of around 60 kms, as we connect you with the Indian heartland. You will pass various green belts with amazing fauna and bird life. After a tea-halt, you visit a Potter’s Home and try your hand at creating your own master piece in clay ! This is followed by a visit to a farm and a farmer’s home and partake their lifestyle. We also indulge you in an amazing opium ceremony, which is a tradition in this region. You then visit a rug manufacturing outlet where they still use traditional means to create amazing designs. And after this heady immersion into the ‘real India’, you head back to your hotel.

Yours Again Vows
Marriage holds a very sacred place in Indian society and renewing your vows in the traditional Indian way is something that will stay with you for a life-time. Just before sun set, two village women escort you singing traditional wedding songs to the beautifully decorated ‘mandap’. The priest takes you through the ceremony, chanting ‘shlokas’ from the Vedas around the ‘sacred fire’. This is followed by a private candle light dinner at the pool side.
